Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the World Elevator & Escalator Expo (WEE Expo) China 2026, one of the world’s largest exhibitions dedicated to the elevator industry. As someone who has been working in the field of elevator interiors, designer stainless steel sheets, and luxury lift cabins for many years, my focus during the exhibition was naturally on cabin design, aesthetics, materials, and interior innovations.
What Caught My Attention?
One of the most interesting observations was that almost every major global elevator brand was giving significant importance to luxury elevator interiors.
Companies such as Hitachi, Otis, Fujitec and Mitsubishi Electric showcased beautifully designed elevator cabins where the focus was not only on technology but also on passenger experience and visual appeal.
A common trend I noticed was the use of round corner cabin designs, premium flooring, designer ceilings, and specially crafted back panels. Every cabin looked thoughtfully designed, creating a luxury experience rather than just serving as a means of transportation.
This clearly shows that globally, elevator interiors are becoming an important part of modern architecture and premium real estate projects.
How Does India Compare?
Many people believe that China is far ahead in every aspect of manufacturing. While China undoubtedly has impressive manufacturing capabilities and large-scale production systems, my experience at the exhibition gave me a different perspective.
When it comes to exclusive lift interior designs, decorative stainless steel finishes, customized back panels, luxury textures, and premium cabin aesthetics, I genuinely feel that Indian companies are performing exceptionally well.
In fact, several interior concepts and exclusive designs that we are currently creating in India appeared more unique and visually appealing than many of the designs displayed at the exhibition.
A number of my industry friends from India who attended the expo shared similar observations.
Quality Matters More Than Price
Another important takeaway was pricing.
There is a common perception that everything manufactured in China is significantly cheaper. However, what I observed was that high-quality products are valued globally, regardless of the country.
Premium elevator interiors, advanced finishes, designer panels, and luxury cabin solutions require quality materials, skilled workmanship, and innovative design. Therefore, genuinely high-quality products are not inexpensive anywhere in the world.
This was encouraging because it reinforced the belief that Indian manufacturers focusing on quality and innovation can compete confidently on the global stage.
The Future of Elevator Interiors
The exhibition also introduced many technologies and design concepts that are still relatively new for the Indian market.
From advanced materials and decorative finishes to modern cabin concepts, there is still much to learn and explore. At the same time, it was inspiring to see how rapidly Indian elevator companies are evolving.
Today, many Indian manufacturers are introducing products and solutions that match international standards in both quality and appearance.
A Feeling of Pride
The biggest takeaway from this journey was not just the technology or the business opportunities.
It was the realization that India is no longer just following global trends—we are creating them too.
As an Indian manufacturer working in the field of luxury lift interiors, designer elevator cabins, decorative stainless steel sheets, and architectural metal finishes, I returned with a stronger belief that we are fully capable of competing with the best in the world.
There is still a lot to achieve, a lot to innovate, and a lot to learn. But this visit strengthened my confidence that the Indian elevator interior industry is moving in the right direction.
I came back inspired, motivated, and proud.
Proud of what I saw.
Proud of what we are building.
And most importantly, proud that today, in the field of elevator interiors and luxury lift cabin design, India stands confidently alongside the world’s leading manufacturing nations.
